SISTERS (miigwech)

Cranberry Sour Ale by Katalyst Brewing

A collaboration with Up North Brewing and High Gravity Supply, this well balanced cranberry sour aims to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. The can artwork, created by Peggy Pitawanakwat represents the link between the spirit world and the missing, and includes symbology to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Thunder Woman Healing Lodge, which assists indigenous women after serving their time in correctional facilities.

TASTING NOTES:

APPEARANCE:  Pours a cloudy grapefruit pink with a delicate layer of foam that dissipates quickly.

AROMA:  Aromas of sweet, juicy berries, strawberry sherbet and lime leaf.

FLAVOUR PROFILE:  Flavours are light tartness, easy drinking, balanced against a berry sweetness.  The cranberry flavour presents itself brighter than I would have expected.  Carbonation is light and the beer finishes with a refreshing sourness that lingers for a while on my tongue.

OVERALL:  An easy drinking sour that has a distinct sweetness to balance against the puckering nature.  Would pair very nicely with soft creamy cheese like Brie.
